After nine years of absence why ever didn’t we repeat this before now.
This is what village life is really all about. Great, fantastic, looking forward to next year, more like a show than a fete The ADVA committee are preening themselves!! But this was an effort that involved a large number of other people so we are so very thankful for the effort put in by all of you. Without doubt the weather was kind to us on the day. And on an almost dream like Saturday afternoon, renewed social interactions were taking place all over the field as people shared their vision for all sorts of local projects. So I found out, at last, what “First Responders” is all about, and who runs “Neighbour care” . I also found out who the people are who organised the tea and cakes for everyone who attended; and who provided the barbecue. The WI ladies were out in force as were members of the Parish Church, and somebody had driven a spectacular display of sports and racing cars, and some splendid old tractors for all to see. The dog show was so popular too; so much more could be done to make it an even bigger success next year. And so, with the background music from the Brass Band this was a great occasion. I just didn’t get round to seeing everything, but the last thing I heard was a wonderful young people’s jazz band.
Many lessons were also learned because there is always room for improvement, but there is so much potential for future events.
We managed to raise over £1000 which will be used in a creative way to enrich the life of the community, - and who knows what next year might bring.
