All Saints Awbridge September 2013

All Saints Awbridge September 2013

As we move into September we begin to enjoy the harvest of fruits, farming and horticulture all around us, and are thankful for all the produce, gifts, resources, skills and talents we are given. Some of your home-grown produce may even be award winning at ADVA’s produce show but even this produce is still part of God’s generous gifts to us, even if you have to put in the actual spade work!

On Sunday 22 September we have our Harvest Festival Family service at
9 30 am followed by lunch in the village hall, do come and join us from
12 30 pm. We are once again supporting the Basics Bank run by Southampton City Mission, and the need is growing with more people needing food and clothing than previously. The food & clothing is only given to those with referral vouchers from authorised agencies and is given out by volunteers through church communities in Southampton: www.southamptoncitymission.co.uk/donations.
See list below for items requested, please bring what you can offer, to our harvest service and/or lunch.

We had a great BBQ jointly with Awbridge First Responders, in July with 70+ people enjoying scrummy burgers, homemade ice cream and the joys of firing water rockets, on a sunny warm evening for a change, thank you all for coming!

Thank you to all of you who collected a bottle for coins in aid of Turn on the Tap from our wildlife walk & BBQ. Please continue collecting and a reminder will be sent out to bring your bottle to our Harvest Celebrations (22 Sept) or give to Mary Savage, Pepe Alexander or Fred Tucker, don’t forget to complete the gift-aid label on the side of the bottle. Thank you.

There is now a website for the Romsey Deanery so if you want to look up what is happening in other parishes see www.romseydeanery.org.

Craft and Chat Session: Currently we are proposing to start a craft session for anyone who would like to bring some craft work along, have a chat, and cup of tea etc in the Autumn. Sue Franklin has kindly offered to organise this and times, dates, venue will depend on who would like to take part, please contact Sue on 01794 322185 if you are interested.
