Friendly village in the Test Valley, Hampshire, on the edge of the New Forest

1800s

My Great Great Grandfather built the original house opposite Awbridge School, the house later became a post office. My Great Grandfather owned five house in Carters Clay, two at Lake Cottages, the two thatched Cottages and what was then called the Industrial Cottage situated centrally opposite the signpost. Down the track towards the farm, once owned by Charlie Hillier, was formerly owned by my Great Grandfather’s brother Enis Newell. I believe that in the black and white photograph posted on this site one of the ladies featured is my Great Grandmother.
