Friendly village in the Test Valley, Hampshire, on the edge of the New Forest

All Saints Awbridge May 2013

We have just had another successful Messy Church on the theme of Noah’s Ark: a new start, this time held at the Jubilee Hall, Timsbury families came from our parishes and beyond. We had a lively group of 26 children and their families with many new and enthusiastic faces.  We explored the story of Noah’s Ark making badges, making and painting wooden boats, paper boats, a fingerprint rainbow, making rainmakers & animal biscuits. We had the story told in the style of Godly Play by Teresa Pittis, and enjoyed a colourful rainbow tea provided by the generous hospitality of Timsbury church. The famliliar story shows that in the Bible and in our Christian faith there are always opportunities for forgiveness and a new start.

We have also been involved in a youth worship event element at North Baddesley with the theme of transformations and heard the story from Pete Maidment, youth officer for the diocese, of the blind man whose sight  was restored by Jesus, put simply, the man said “I was blind but now I see” a basic principle of our faith, even if we don’t know the answers to all our problems, or those of the world around us, Jesus enables us to see more clearly and learn to follow him more closely.

At our last First service we looked at the theme of Emmaus and Journeys and how the disciples began to recognise the risen Jesus and the impact that had on their lives and their faith, and how that can impact our faith too, our next First service is on Sunday 5 May at 6 30 pm.

We look forward to our Pentecost Celebration on Sunday 19 May when there will be a special service of Holy Communion incorporating the dedication of our new Jubilee Church Kneelers which have been completed by skillful & dedicated volunteers from the village and church, come and celebrate this festival with us at 9 30 am.
